BHP Quality Toolbox Talks

An internal safety film for BHP that shows how a simple morning Toolbox conversation helps every team start the day aligned, informed, and ready to work safely.

BHP Quality Toolbox Talks

About the Project

This video was created as part of an internal safety series for BHP, focused on the importance of Toolboxes: regular morning huddles where teams share what is happening across the site before work begins. These conversations give departments a chance to flag ongoing projects, identify where work may overlap, discuss risks, and make sure everyone has the context they need to do their job safely. The goal was to make the value of the process clear without making it feel abstract or procedural. A Toolbox is not just another meeting. It is the moment where people create shared awareness before the day starts, ensuring that the work of one team does not introduce unexpected risk for another. That aligns with BHP’s wider safety approach of identifying and managing hazards, encouraging people to speak up, and consistently verifying that controls are in place.

Visual Approach

We approached the film with clarity and realism. The visual language focuses on workers and departments coming together, practical site communication, and the everyday details that make coordination visible: plans being reviewed, people listening, questions being raised, and teams moving into the day with a shared understanding. The tone is direct, grounded, and respectful of the audience’s experience. Rather than overcomplicating the message, the film uses real workplace interactions and clear visual storytelling to reinforce a simple idea: when everyone knows what is happening, everyone is better prepared to work safely. Toolbox talks are typically brief, task focused discussions held before work begins to surface relevant hazards and safe work practices, which made simplicity and immediacy essential to the film’s approach.
